Leaving Legalism: Learning to Love God, Others, and Yourself Again

I have some past and current ties to the broader homeschool movement. Thankfully, these have been mostly good experiences, one in which the grace and truth taught in Scripture was embraced not only intellectually but practically. Sadly, this isn't always the case. Legalism taints many homeschooling communities.

Few know this better than Kendra Fletcher. For a decade or so, she sought to honor God as a homeschool parent, imbibing many legalistic ideas and practices along the way. The result of such rigidity was a crushing weight of expectation and exhausting and ultimately futile attempts to meet it.

Thankfully, Fletcher emerged from this journey with a fresh understanding of the grace that sets people free. Leaving Legalism is a fruit of that journey, one that can help you or someone you love better understand the freedom that only comes through God's gracious performance for us, not ours for God.
